The Battle of Washita River (Battle of the Washita) occurred on November 27th, 1868 when Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer's 7th U.S. Cavalry attacked Black Kettle's Cheyenne village on the Washita River (near present day Cheyenne, Oklahoma)

Plains Indian Hair Ornament

This hair ornament was based on - but not made excactly the same as the one worn by Kicking Bird in "Dances with Wolves"

Cheyenne Hair Ornament

CHEYENNE beaded feather for top hap (made for a reenactor- Frontiersman)

This ornament was made for an old Civil War cap. The cap has been decorated using Cheyenne bead colors and other items from that period (see Civil War cap)
